The woman in the leaked 'nude photos' is Marjorie Barretto. This according to Barretto's lawyer, Atty. Lorna Kapunan, who also appealed to the public to stop sharing, posting, and re-posting the said photos for the sake of Barretto's family and children.
In an interview aired on ABS CBN, Atty. Kapunan (yes, the same lawyer of James Yap) said the pictures are private and should remain private. She also warned the public that they will not hesitate in filing cases against those who post the private photos because this is illegal under Republic Act 9995, or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act.
“She’s a mother, she’s very upset. She’s not running for any public office precisely because she wants to guard her privacy. She has growing up daughters and ang concern niya is they are in the formative years where they understand. That’s why we are also respecting the media na sana huwag na interviewhin si Marj,” she said.
Kapunan said the penalty for violating said law is P100,000 to P500,000 or imprisonment for three to seven years, or both.
Allegedly, letters have already been sent to bloggers who have posted the 'nude pictures' demanding that these be taken down or else face criminal charges.
The photo scandal adds another controversy to the Barretto family who have been feuding for the past week due to another issue. Kapunan said the leaked photos are in no way connected to the feud.
The rest of the Barretto family has been silent on this issue so far. Adobo Talk PH
